Apple Butter

Ingredients and Recipe:
8 lbs. Apples peeled and sliced (I use three different varieties. Pick your favorites!)
2 Cups apple cider
1 1/2 Cups brown sugar
2 Tablespoons cinnamon
3/4 Teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 Teaspoon allspice
1 Teaspoon salt
Juice from half of a lemon

Peel and slice your apples.
Add apples and other ingredients to a Dutch oven and cook on the stove for an hour on medium high heat until apples are very soft and reduced down, stirring occasionally.
Using an immersion blender, purée the apples in the pot and then continue to cook for an additional hour on low to med. low stirring every 10-15 minutes. Apple butter is ready to can once is sticks easily to your stirring spoon! Makes about five 8 oz. jars. Can according to manufacturer’s directions. Enjoy!!
